I believe that we have a social responsibility to produce products locally that uniquely caters to our Canadian lifestyle. What happens when we don’t take this ownership? Muskoka chairs have been one of those products that lets us engage with our beautiful natural surroundings and yet, the design of the furniture has not evolved much for over a century. Why? Perhaps the offshore producers of these products for too long, have ignored the fact that our lifestyle has evolved. This product is one of many to come, that is designed from the ground up, to answer to our need for a modern outdoor furniture, that lets us appreciate our magnificent backyard to the north.
Muskoka chairs are not an original Canadian invention, as its name suggests (see Douglas Hunter's excellent article:

Been wanting to change that and make it our own, built locally in Muskoka, Ontario... wouldn't that be awesome! So with that in mind, here's my first attempt at modernizing the design of the so called the "Westport" chair. A transparent indoor lounge chair that mirrors our surroundings. Enjoy the moment to reflect on our proud Canadian heritage.
